PLEASE READ EVERYTHING BELOW BEFORE PROCEEDING
PLEASE NOTE: There is currently a 4-6 week wait time. We cannot accommodate emergency requests.
The Keep People Housed – Oakland Homelessness Prevention Program provides one time only financial assistance and services to eligible, currently housed, City of Oakland residents (not Alameda County as a whole) at high risk of homelessness or housing loss. Assistance can include back rent and other housing-related expenses. Financial assistance is not the only service offered, and is only provided in conjunction with participation in other services designed to provide you with long term housing stability.
- Meeting all eligibility criteria does not guarantee financial assistance. Due to limited resources, only applicants at highest risk of homelessness or housing loss will be prioritized for assistance.
- You must have a current source of income (employment, SSI, etc.), or future income lined up, and be able to pay your rent in full going forward. KPH – Oakland will not provide financial assistance to tenants without income or potential income, or tenants who cannot pay their rent going forward. If you do not currently meet this requirement, please visit one of BACS' Housing Resource Centers (information below) for other assistance options.
- If you are currently unhoused, or in temporary housing, KPH – Oakland does not provide housing location services or move-in cost assistance. Please visit a BACS Housing Resource Center for these services (information below).
You may proceed if:
-
You are currently housed in the City of Oakland
-
You are at imminent risk of losing your housing due to recent financial or other hardships
